I recently came across a new blog by Ramesh Meyyappan on “Seek or Scan – Cost Based Optimizer in SQL Server“.  In the youtube video (17 minutes) he covers the topic with some good examples and explanations, assuming you have some basic indexing knowledge. It is a fairly good starting point to understand SQL optimizer internals.

Based on this blog post I found he creates quite a few videos for SQLWorkshops.com on their sister site SQLVideo.com. I am sure you could find a topic there that would interest you. He does a good job in his videos.

The thing I am going to try at home is the Load Testing tool he used in the video – SQL Test.
